STONE ISLAND AND 30 YEARS OF HISTORY.
FROM 1982 TO PRESENT
It is an important year for Stone Island, that through a growth, which has allowed it to double its sales since 2007, is getting ready to face an important 2012: the 30th anniversary celebration of its hard work will see its involvement in both product and communication projects.
30 YEARS OF THE PRODUCT
This is a celebration that begins with the product because, for Stone Island, that’s where it all begins.
The next Autumn/Winter ‘012 collection, an important and structured collection, really represents the excellence that the company has achieved within each family of product. 3 symbolic pieces have been designed to represent par excellence the history and methodology of Stone Island.
– Tela Stella: the genesis, the origin.
In1982, Stone Island was founded with just one fabric in 6 different colours. Thirty years later, the exact replica of a piece from its first collection is available, a fabric inspired by a study on the technical and functional features of tarpaulins for military trucks.
– Reflective Knit: playing with material.
Transferring technology from fabric to yarn, the ultimate in Stone Island research. Created using a Reflective yarn, built with micro plates covered with thousands of glass microspheres enclosed in a polyester net, printed using pressure/heat sublimation to melt the fibres and get an even surface with a jersey and high performance Windstopper® liner.
– 30/30: engineering the garment, the sum of the key.
Stone Island technologies.
Two garments in one, both reversible, which can be worn in 30 different modes. In Raso Gommato Prismat¬ic Cover, a cotton-based satin coated inside with a prismatic polyurethane film, garment dyed with a double dye formula and in Thermo Reflective, a heat sensitive and reflective fabric knitted inside.
30 YEARS OF COMMUNICATION
Three decades to talk about, covering various areas and remaining faithful to the language of Stone Island.
– The Show: with the Fondazione Pitti Discovery, at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence in June 2012, starting with Pitti Uomo 82.
A retrospective that explores all the key areas of Stone Island.
– The Book: 300 iconographic images that cover its 30 years history. It will be released in June / July by Silvana Editoriale and printed by Grafiche Amilcare Pizzi.

How to try to buy credibility using Facebook OR does having millions of Facebook fans actually degrade your credibility, originality, desirability and unique quality?
So here’s the latest story on the designer brands with most Facebook fans. Rounding out the top 10 in November were Burberry (9,808,722); Levi’s (9,371,541); Nike Football (9,112,968); Lacoste (6,742,187); DC Shoes (6,196,780); Puma (5,907,725); Gucci (5,644,529), and Dior (5,612,573). The only changes between October’s and November’s rankings was that Levi’s and Nike Football switched places.
Perhaps paradoxically Nike has made advance by losing some of the associated dowdiness and mindless “fan-culture” cultivated by the squares at Facebook. Maybe…?

Lightness and new techniques. The new process developed by Stone Island, to make the nylon ultra-light, garment dyed, down jacket.
Ultra-light nylon weighing only 26 grams per square metre.
Filled with the finest down, appositely treated to bear the stress of the garment dyeing procedure.
Extra lightness and comfort achieved through the direct injection of the feathers and by a simplified construction of the down bags.
Garment dyed through special formulas to achieve otherwise unreachable shades.
The addition of a special agent to the dye formula makes the piece anti-drop.
PUMA introduces PUMAGILITY but know this is not your average trainer. It’s reinforced with a stable design that doesn’t compromise on comfort and flex. How’d we do it? We used super lightweight foam shapes that compress on impact (ahem, flexibility aplenty) and widen the base (cue maximum stability). We even threw in a few flex grooves for enhanced, smooth side-to-side movement while training. Put it all together and you get a shoe that not only moves with you, it moves for you—now get going. In PUMA’s new commercial to launch PUMAGILITY, we get a glimpse of a young runner’s journey through the city with his new PUMAGILITY shoes, demonstrating how he gets moving. PUMAGILITY offers stability and flexibility for all your cross training needs.

Probably one of the most controversial subjects in British football?? – should Team GB even be a point of conversation? It’s about as annoying as chatter about Rangers and Celtic joining the Premiership but it’s never going to go away. We need this kind of drama to keep us engaged – polarisation energizes us and keeps us chatting. Nice!
So here’s Wales and Tottenham star Gareth Bale modeling Team GB football shirt. Get your blood boiling? Take a butchers anyway…

The latest from Manchester City in Sierra Leone.
Manchester City have been making inroads into Sierra Leone, a country that is the twelfth-lowest-ranked country on the Human Development Index and eighth-lowest on the Human Poverty Index. City have established a network of supporters groups in the country, and have been working with Umbro to give much-needed soccer equipment to many of these impoverished people.
Patrick Cox, the old boy Cordwainers College graduate, is apparently coming back. Cox who was educated at Cordwainers College in Hackney has had a bumpy time of late so let’s hope this is the start of a revival for the bloke! He’s always worth a butchers.
For SS12, Italian footwear brand Geox is partnering with Canadian shoe designer Patrick Cox. The two will create a capsule collection mixing sportswear with an urban chic feel. The new shoe collection will be launched during the Micam footwear fair in Milan.
The collaboration between Geox and Patrick Cox is ongoing and they will create collections for both men and women. On the new partnership Cox commented: “I want to create pieces that are casual in spirit and reflect London’s cool urban vibe building on GEOX’s exceptional and innovative shoemaking technology.”
Cox is known for his Wannabe loafer, which was a huge commercial success. Geox was inspired by the British gentlemen with an urban twist, and found its companion in Cox for the collection of 18 styles for men, and 20 for women. The shoes are made of soft leathers and come in a variety of colours, which will be available in UK, Italy, France, US and Asia.
Here we get a butchers at a Puma Profile on Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero:
“Argentina and Manchester City star Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero has been a revelation wherever he has played; winning plaudits, matches and the hearts of fans all over the world!
It seems young Sergio, affectionately known as ‘Kun’ was destined for great things, having made his professional debut for Independiente at the tender age of 15 years and 35 days old; making him the youngest player EVER to appear in Argentine First Division. Not only that, ‘Kun’ broke the record established by the legendary Diego Maradona, who is not only the father of Argentinean football, but also happens to be his father-in-law too!
Sergio lived up to his promise to become one of the hottest properties in football after bagging an astonishing 23 goals in just over 50 games, with Athletico Madrid eventually winning the race for his signature in a record-breaking transfer. ‘Kun’ who is equally happy playing as a forward or dropping a bit deeper didn’t take long to find his feet in La Liga and was soon firing his side into the Champions League for the time in more than a decade!
It was his virtuoso performances in Spain over a five year period that led to big-spending Manchester City to declare an interest in signing the Argentine superstar and this summer ‘Kun’ made the move to the Premiership for a reported £35 million! Sergio’s agility, pace and strength make him perfectly suited to the best league in the world and ‘Kun’ looks to be settling in incredibly well having bagged seven goals in four Premiership appearances!”

The Danner Mountain Light Lownsdale is the first collaboration between two Portland, Oregon companies with a deep commitment to lasting quality: Danner and Tanner Goods. The Lownsdale is constructed of genuine Chromexcel leather, from the world famous Horween tannery in Chicago, and is the first of its kind to be created at the factory in Portland. Chromexcel is famous for its luxurious and unique pull-up character. Each hide takes roughly 28 days to be matured and ready for use, and develops an amazing patina with age and use. The Lownsdale takes its name from Daniel H. Lownsdale, one of the founders of Portland, who established the city’s first tannery around 1845. Interestingly, its location is now the home of the Portland Timbers soccer (football if you’re true to the game) club. Anyone who knows us knows that when we root, we root for the Timbers.
Steven Cox and Daniel Silver of cult menswear label Duckie Brown share their S/S 2012 Collection.
“I’ve been spending a lot of time in London, drinking in pubs,” said Cox, who originally hails from England, backstage. “I’ve been thinking about the Bexleyheath boys (the clan south of the river)” he goes on. Nice one Steve…lol
“Real Bexleyheath boys would probably kick your ass,” Cox said backstage, laughing. Steve obviously doesn’t have a handle on the true inner workings of the london lad hierarchy. Maybe a visit to Bermondsey would put his bonce in gear to reality. But Steve we get your point about painting a picture of fantasy, so hats off to you mate!
“The collection is always about a lot of things. We don’t know where it all comes from. Sometimes it’s just a feeling,” said Silver before adding, “Why, do you want us to make up some story about inspiration for you?”

Here we are, back with the Stone Island Shadow collection for the upcoming AW ‘011’012 season. No one better than the mastermind behind the project, designer Errolson Hugh, to introduce the new collection. He lends himself to be the hero of this video introducing us to the PARSEQ GRID, the performance system at the base of the Shadow Project since its inception and the AW collection pieces, explaining concepts/design/technical features/functionalities, all thought for a perfect symbiosis between item, environment and wearer. Nothing is left to chance, as in the best Shadow tradition.
