Seven for all Mankind attained instantaneous success in 2000 when they debuted in Vernon, California not far from Sun City, Los Angeles (now internationally famed hot bed for jean design). Initially only producing women’s denim bottoms, Seven has since gone on to introduce a line of men’s denim in 2002, and in 2005, produced a clothing line as well as a line children’s denim. From the beginning, Seven for all Mankind has had no trouble capturing the attention of the stars; they are worn by Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Christina Aguilera, Carmen Electra and many others.
Following the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel, Lanvin has agreed to design a one-time collection for trendy retailer H&M.
“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public,” explains Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.
Alber Elbaz of Lanvin
Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the H&M by Lanvin collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide.
The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.
“This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world,” Alber Elbaz concluded.
