Miharayasuhiro Autumn 2010 Campaign

Linus Gustin by Paolo Roversi for Miharayasuhiro Fall 2010 Campaign.

Mihara started out designing his own shoe line, as a student at Tama Art University and opened his first Miharayasuhiro shop in Tokyo 1998. His clothes are very individual and experimental and has a futuristic touch to them and of course, they’re also very Japanese! This is THE brand for anyone looking for extraordinary design but also craves the perfectionism of a commended designer.

Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova for Vuitton

Typically, Marc Jacobs gives his collections for Louis Vuitton a different spin in advertising versus the runway. For the forthcoming fall campaign, slated to break in a wide range of August titles, Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova are shown preening in front of old-fashioned makeup mirrors backstage, as if they were ready to take a stroll around the fountain of the Louvre’s Cour Carré, the setting for Vuitton’s show during Paris Fashion Week in March. Ditto for the multigenerational casting — one model in her 20s, one her 30s, one her 40s — adding up to one of the most sophisticated Vuitton fashion campaigns to date, according to Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications.

“The atmosphere was very Fifties, very elegant,” he related. This is the fourth Vuitton campaign shot by Steven Meisel, who constructed the period set in a New York studio.

Arnault described the media spend as “flat” and said it would remain print driven, running in tandem with the company’s “Core Values” campaign. The latest one, depicting Pelé, Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane playing foosball in a Madrid cafe, will continue to run through the World Cup tournament and into the fall. In light of the disgraced French team, Arnault expressed relief that Vuitton did not opt to cast today’s soccer stars. “We made the right choice to work with legends and not spoiled brats,” he said. via WWD

Max Schneider x Madonna x Dolce & Gabbana campaign

Max Schneider x Madonna x Dolce & Gabbana campaign

Meet Max Schneider, the 17-year-old who appears with Madonna in the new Dolce & Gabbana campaign, and who already boasts a quadruple-slash job description: actor-singer-dancer-model. This impressive young man is a senior at a performing arts high school that has no problem with him leaving school to work for a day on something like the fall 2010 Dolce campaign, which he shot in Harlem with Madonna in April. Get your minds out of the gutter (he hardly has facial hair!), because Max isn’t her new Jesus Luz — he’s supposed to be her son.

It was very comfortable. She walked in the room, and I’m a big Madonna fan so I was expecting it to be nervewracking but she walked in and it was totally fine. I felt like her son for the day, I was supposed to be her son in the ad campaign actually. She was just so nice to me, it wasn’t like I was some random kid, she really treated me with respect and I truly respected her for that. She’s such a superstar but she treats you as though you’re on the same level. It was really incredible and she’s just a very nice, sweet person. I was pleasantly surprised.

Salvatore Ferragamo Casual Shoes

Salvatore Ferragamo Casual Shoes

Salvatore Ferragamo is letting its hair down for a good cause.

On Sunday night, the company launched a new line of casual men’s shoes, labeled Ferragamo World, consisting of six different styles including desert boots, moccasins and sportier pieces, all with a youthful, less-formal feel.

The manufacturing process was designed with an environmental aspect, using water-based adhesives and water tanning.

A portion of the revenues from the sales of the Ferragamo World products will go to Acumen Fund, which provides drinking water and clean energy to poverty-stricken countries, including India, Pakistan and those in East Africa. Via FN.

Giorgio Armani Men’s RTW Spring 2011

Giorgio Armani Men's RTW Spring 2011

Escapism has been a running theme this season, but Giorgio Armani knows that guys still have to work. For spring, he served up a lightweight wardrobe that was varied, of-the-moment and – above all – effortless. With a summertime city slicker in mind, the designer combined classic with casual in just the right doses.

The first look out – a crisp double-breasted jacket in linen worn with roomy trousers – set the tone for a breezy take on tailoring.

Sport coats – mostly two-button and cut short and tight in classic cotton blends, weightless jerseys or slightly iridescent fabrics – flaunted Armani’s sophisticated, yet light touch.

He brightened up his signature palette of beiges and grays with cool blues and touches of citrus yellow, which he applied to suede desert boots, belts, ties and sporty blousons in tech-y fabrics. While some trousers – set high on the waist – boasted his signature pleats, the silhouette seemed slimmer.

The finale to this succinct show was a squad of crisp, cool jackets, buttoned-up shirts and easy trousers, giving men a host of reasons to look forward to the weekdays. Via WWD.

The Milan menswear shows wrapped up yesterday, and now it’s off to gay ol’ Paree. We’ll be posting links to the remaining collections throughout the day; in the meantime, take a gander at the latest from Alexander McQueen, D&G, and Giorgio Armani, and then tell us: Did Sarah Burton do her house justice? Do you like Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce’s Hawaiian-print drawers? And does Giorgio Armani have a thing for neon pocket squares, or what?

Salvatore Ferragamo Menswear S/S 2011

Not a hair out of place and always perfectly dressed, the Salvatore Ferragamo gent reminds us that the “old world charm” that seem to exist only in movies actually lives on and there are still men who adhere to its strict dress code.

Dressing the Salvatore Ferragamo gent for Spring 2011, Massimiliano Giornetti, Creative Director of the brand, proposes crisp navy blazers, spiffy striped jackets, loose fitting pants and finished with sandals and shoes, which by the way is still the real collection to see.

With denim at her centre, Dame Vivienne Westwood takes handy-man chic to a whole other level. The look is shamelessly rough and ready artisan ahoy! Roberto Cavalli 40th Anniversary Logo

Roberto Cavalli 40th Anniversary Logo

fter successfully unveiling his Spring / Summer 2011 menswear collection, Roberto Cavalli announced the launch of the logo that celebrates the 40 years of the Maison.

The corporate logo has been transformed and evolved for the 40th Anniversary of the House of Cavalli. It is the graphic interpretation of 40 years of fashion, and an emblem of the Cavalli style and spirit.

The heraldic RC logo is set inside the number zero, which represents perfection. The digits making up the symbol create another emblem, rich in meaning for Roberto Cavalli – that of Venus, who in mythology represents Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love.

She celebrates Roberto Cavalli’s love of women and all the passion that this designer has dedicated to them in 40 years, enhancing their femininity and sensuality.

Versace Menswear Spring 2011

Versace Men Spring 2011

With so many friends who are singers and rockers, it is not surprising that Donatella Versace is very aware of music trends. Still seeing her interpret it on the runway makes you realize that the Italian designer has her finger on the industry’s pulse, on costumes and dressing, that is.

A little bit country, a little bit rock & roll, Donatella Versace mixed two very distinct music genre and got away with it! Sharp and tailored, the clothes can interchangeably be worn by David Bowie or Keith Urban without losing either the music or fashion beat.

Fringe on a blouson jacket, big belt buckles, slim fitting pants rolled at the hem, bling on a tuxedo, plaid shirt worn under a trench coat… the convergence of two very recognizable styles morphing into something that is so Versace speaks volume about the uniqueness of this collection.

And the best part about this, what Donatella did is actually reflective of the current crop of musicians. Though they are girls, both Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, the new singing stars easily change genres as they please proving their versatility.

Speaking of versatility, it is also a word you can use to describe the Versace Men Spring 2011 collection.

Calvin Klein Collection Men Spring 2011

Calvin Klein Collection Men Spring 2011

Graphic, athletic and sporty, the Calvin Klein lad is a manly man that unsurprisingly brings to mind the current faces of Calvin Klein Underwear – Kellan Lutz, Mehcad Brooks, Heditoshi Nakata and Fernando Verdasco.

With the resurgence of the retrosexual (a man who adopts a traditional masculine style in dress and manners), Italo Zucchelli, Men’s Creative Director for Calvin Klein Collection created sexy yet utilitarian silhouettes that are graphically cut and uniform.

Focused on proportion, volume and scale, Italo Zucchelli’s vision of modern American sportswear is realized in advanced fabrics repurposed for an active lifestyle where extreme proportions are executed on clean, highly textured surfaces to emphasize movement, casually.

The dropped shoulder detail is evident on oversized chino shirts, t shirts, and bombers, and counter balanced with a tapered leg pant or short trunks. Iconic bomber jackets are executed in modern coated cotton twills, with a detachable lower half or offered in an elongated style. The new sport trouser with cotton chino at back and contrast nylon at front.

And as previously announced, the runway show held earlier today will be replayed this evening in Milan on the outdoor LED screen in the Piazza del Duomo from 7:30-8:00pm directly before the 2010 Fifa World Cup game. This is the second time that the men’s runway show has been featured in this way in the Piazza del Duomo.

Megan Fox in Armani Underwear

Armani unleashed Megan Fox’s panty and bra ad. She looks hot, of course, but her stomach is curiously smooth. Everyone’s seen the recent pictures of her AND HER SIX-PACK frolicking on the beach in Maui. Did Armani retouch it away or did she just eat a lot of cupcakes leading up to this shoot?

DSquared2 Clothing Fall 2010 advertising campaign

DSquared2 Clothing Fall 2010 advertising campaign

Taking a page out of John Bartlett’s book, the DSquared2 Fall 2010 advertising campaigns revolved around nudity and the natural essence of fashion using living mannequins.

With the models represented as “mannequins in a store window”, the eroticism usually associated with nudity was expunged and thus the human body became the aseptic inspiration for Dean & Dan Caten.

Shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, the atmosphere in a modern anatomy lab was recreated. Cold and unyielding, the shots recalled a series of clinical experiments emphasized by the models being “imprisoned” in glass tanks that might as well be store windows.

The aggressive and inexpressive woman is colored almost monochromatically, balanced by an alternating palette of black and white; opposition, however, is represented by slips, latex gloves and shocking red lips.

Ultra skinny leather dresses clothe the DSQUARED2 woman, as she is wearing shoes and high “spinal” heels.

Cotton hockey shirts and dark jeans are worn by the DSQUARED2 man, though he sometimes he is seen as bare-chested. He is strong and severe, but is still imprisoned: a concept that synergizes the F/W 2010 DSQUARED2 theme, and is one that hints at Damien Hirst’s art style.

DSQUARED2 eyewear also strictly follows Dean & Dan Caten’s concept, showing big, severe, rigid and geometric shapes. Metal details and stylized squaring serve to emphasize their intensity.
